Last week I cautioned you about buying too many gadgets for Christmas.

Well a lot of people ask me about color printers, so here's my take
on it:

Color inkjet printers are disposable. In, fact, if you find a good
sale you can buy the whole printer for less than the cost of the
replacement ink!

I have a nice HP Color Laserjet for printing, but for photos I need
an inkjet.

I just bought an Epson R380 for about $95 on one of those "black"
days.

Then yesterday I saw Epson was selling it on their website for $75,
but of course it was out of stock.

Epson and HP are pretty much the ones to go with for photos, and I'm
not big on all-in-one inkjet style printers. Both use 6 (!) ink cart
ridges for the "high def" printing they supposedly do; although
I think only 3 are used in photo printing.

If you are in the market, buy one that's good enough for the printing
you want to do and has the features you want (mine will print direct
onto a CD or DVD in full color), but treat them as a disposable item.

Don't pay too much and be ready to send it to the landfill. So much
for all this noise about "saving the planet", eh?
