Free Computer Consultant Tip-Of-The-Week e-Zine for December 28, 2007 ---------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you are having a pleasant Holiday season!
I have been a bit absent from the weekly tips and the blog; this time of year gets insane for me as all of my clients decide to do those upgrades and other purchases that we have been talking about all year before year end for tax purposes.
And then all that paperwork for Uncle Sam besides..

How many of you change your smoke detector batteries around the New Year?
Well here's another good practice:
Most of you probably seldom change your password. And since it's probably easy to remember it's probably easy to guess or crack.
Consider changing important passwords at the new year, especially for bank and other financial accounts.
Need a good password generator? http://www.freecomputerconsultant.com/password-safe.html It will even follow rules you (or your bank) determine.
Need a good program to store those passwords, passphrases and all the other crap your bank makes you go through these days? http://www.freecomputerconsultant.com/password-safe.html
If you feel multifactor authorization is really that secure, perhaps you should start reading Bruce Schneier's work. http://www.schneier.com/ (Think Trojan's, keyloggers, etc)
Have a safe and happy Holiday!
