This time I want to highlight some technology whose time has
really come. Remote PC Access.

Years ago we loved and sometimes hated pcAnywhere. With only modem
to modem access and a decent password, it was secure. Once the
internet came along, the pcAnywhere exploits that followed made
it mandatory to change port assignments and use strong passwords.

Changing ports, though easy, wasn't done by a lot of folks and I know
of many computers and even servers that were hacked.

In fact, the blog post mentioned below "WAIT! - Don't Reboot Just
Yet.." was brought on by a non-responsive pcAnywhere.

These days there is a cheap and phenomenal alternative that I have
been testing, and loving, quite a bit.

PCNow from Webex, owned by Cisco, has it all together with top
notch security and tremendous ease of use.

Remote printing and file transfer were two issues that caused
many to stay with a program like pcAnywhere, especially when
Microsoft's remote desktop/terminal server had so many problems
with printing and doesn't offer file transfer.

If you have the need to access your computer from anywhere using
just a web browser and not having to load megabytes worth of
software to do it, I highly recommend PCNow.

They offer a free 30 day trial you can access here:
http://www.freecomputerconsultant.com/go/pcnow/
(This does require a credit card, but you will NOT be charged if
you cancel in 30 days.)

I am currently setting up several of my clients with this
technology, in great part due to the advent of $4.00 gas.

But even without $4.00 gas, the time has come to use PCNow
to save yourself TIME and HASSLE. Choose a strong password
and you're on your way.

Once you try it I think you will be hooked.
