What Could Be Scarier Than This?
Last week I mentioned Tax Time and gave you these two links
for the
most popular tax preparation software out there.
http://www.fileforfreeonline.com/
http://www.fastonlinetaxes.com/
Both have the option of doing your taxes online or
installing
software on your PC.
This year more people than ever are doing their taxes online
because
that's the most easy and convenient way for them to get this
nasty
job out of the way for another year.
And there is one thing about your income tax form, it has
your most
PERSONAL of data in it.
So, not to ruin your day, but what could be scarier than
filling out
your most personal, private, financial data and having
someone
snooping on your internet connection while you do it?
Enter ForceField, a product offering from a great internet
security
company, Check Point Software the makers of ZoneAlarm. And
they
are selling it at a price that is affordable.
Many of you have taken my advice to use ZoneAlarm to protect
your
computer from viruses and malware. Now the same company is
offering
a program that creates a protective "bubble" around your
internet
session to protect you and your data.
You may have heard of this type of technology as a
"sandbox"; and
while I won't get into the technical details here, you can be
sure
you will be hearing this term more and more going forward.
But suffice it to say that ForceField creates a new
separate
operating environment for your surfing session that isolates
that
session from the rest of your PC, protecting your PC from
your
surfing
When you are done surfing, whatever happened in that session
stays
in that session, to paraphrase Las Vegas' famous slogan.
ForceField goes further than that, though. It also shields
you
from some of the most vicious and prevalent threats on the
internet
today, like drive-by downloads, phishing and keyloggers.
In short, it protects you from your worst computing
nightmare
when doing your taxes or banking online.
And the effects of these threats is getting worse every day.
Not
just to your PC, but to your identity and credit rating as
well.
Force Field is a new breed of protection; they offer a free
trial
and I think it's worth checking out.
