I have written in the past about strong passwords and how easy it
is to:

Create them
Store them securely
Use them

I have recommended Password Safe and LastPass (I use both, they
are both f.r.ee)

It turns out that the Big "G" itself, Google, allows hackers to
take hundreds of shots at your password to try to break into
your email.

So what? you ask.

Then they start spamming as you - to your address book.

That'll make you popular.

With everything you do online, make the passwords long, tough,
and change them often.

Don't let "them" get YOU!
