Create Screensaver of Your Own

There is a difference between:
create screensaver to share
create your own screensaver

Some of you have inquired how create your own screensaver of your own. That's a natural request. Many photo software's will allow you to do just that.

But let's take it a step further and create a screensaver for you to share with others, either free or for a profit.

Here's how to find software to do that

Create Screensaver to share needs to be a feature of the software you find. While I haven't used any software to do this yet, I did some research that you can duplicate to make sure you take into account the most recent offerings out there to create your own screensaver.

Start by going to the page:

Tucows download page for create your own screensaver and looking at the selections there. None appear to be freeware, but many times you get what you pay for when it comes to software.

What I then would do is check out the top rated ones; user ratings if possible, but only 1 has a user rating. The software that shows up at the top (alphabetically) w/ 94% popularity has no user rating.

I went to the homepage for the software and my SiteAdvisor indicator turned "Red" - and firefox prevented one popup, but an ebay page did pop up. - Bad news and I left right away.

The second software "2D+3D Screensaver Maker" has 97% popularity and a 4 out of 5 cows user rating. I went to their website - www.iwantsoft.com, it appeared professional and the SiteAdvisor turned "Green" which is good. (Note: they do sell a keylogger/spy software, however it appears to be in the context of monitoring children or whoever might be using YOUR computer.)

Since these software programs are Shareware, you can try them out before you decide to buy. This one is US$24.95.

I also checked out some other Create Your Own Screensaver software that received 5 cows from Tucows (since no others besides 2D+3D had any user ratings). One of them turned SiteAdvisor Red so I killed that immediately.

Here are a couple of others:

  • Easy Screen Saver Workshop 2.8 - had 5 cows, SiteAdvisor showed Green and the site looked nice.
  • Active Screen Saver DevKit 3.0 build 200 - 5 cows, SiteAdvisor Green, but the site looked gimmicky.

By the way, if you use SiteAdvisor - which I suggest you do, the Tucows site itself shows yellow, but the details indicate that the site itself is Ok, just that some of the software shown for download is problematic. And I confirmed that myself.

So download one or two and try them out.

Be sure to uninstall any program you decide not to use, whether they be to create a screensaver or do something else.
