Below you will find links to sites that I have determined offer free music downloads - safe and legal. Safe and legal being the important operative words there. As I find more of them, I'll post them.

Important NOTE!

Surfing for free music or free MP3 downloads is one of THE MOST HAZARDOUS things for your computer. And certainly you need to understand that P2P music sharing sites are some of the WORST. Make sure your PC is secure first, understand safe surfing habits second.

Download.com is a source for all kinds of downloads, but did you know they have music? You won't exactly find Rock & Roll headliners offering their entire CD's for free, but artists can upload music and former headliners like Lindsay Buckingham (of Fleetwood Mac) can be found here. See what you can find at music.download.com.

You can search yourself, but first be sure and install SiteAdvisor plug-in to make sure you don't go visiting one of MANY malware polluted sites promising FREE MUSIC or MP3 DOWNLOADS!

Always be on the lookout for online stores that might offer a free tune or two to entice you to hang around. More and more bands are also posting free MP3 downloads to get more traffic to their site and ultimately sell more of their music.
