Locate Link Browser Problem
(Opening links in an email)
Problem: I use Firefox.
Whenever I open a link in an email, I get a dialog box titled
"Locate Link Browser"
Discussion:
This may also happen if you do not have Firefox
installed. If so, the solution is the same. If you are not
using Firefox, you can try resetting Internet Explorer as the
default browser. Look in Control Panel or IE's Tools | Options
menu, Internet options, program tab. Check the box to have
Internet Explorer check to see if it's the default browser.
Next time you open IE, answer Yes when prompted to make IE the
default.
Solution:
-
Open Windows Explorer
-
On the Menu bar, select Tools then Folder
Options
-
Click on the File Types tab
-
Scroll down until you see Extension (NONE)
URL-HyperText Transfer Protocol (See Figure 1)

Figure 1
-
Click "Advanced" buttion toward the bottom of the
dialog box
-
Click "Edit" in the "Edit File Type" dialog (See
Figure 2)

Figure 2
-
Clear the check in the "Use DDE" checkbox (See
Figure 3)

Figure 3
-
Click Ok, then Ok again
-
Repeat these steps for "HyperText Transfer Protocol
with Privacy"
Special Note: If you go back into these
settings after fixing, Use DDE will be checked again, but
that's Ok.
