Having been a reseller of computer hardware and
software for a couple of decades, price shopping is something I
have a lot of experience at. But it's more than price. You the
quality product with appropriate service if there is a
problem.
In my business I have had accounts with the
major distributors of computer hardware and software. Over the
past few years they have made it increasingly difficult to just
go online, order something and not get zinged for small order
charges. Additionally, the dollar limit of the order to get
free shipping has kept getting pushed higher.
Enter the web. With online retailers I can now
buy for usually the same or LOWER price and many times get
free shipping to boot.
These are the online stores that I trust (and
spend big money at):
Buy.com has been around a long time, many times has the best
prices, many times has FREE SHIPPING and they have a good
customer service department. Frequently they have rebates
on the items as well.
Hardly a week goes by that I don't buy something from
Buy.com
NewEgg.com is very similar to Buy.com, perhaps more oriented
toward computer hardware & software. Very good selection,
pretty good prices, almost never has free shipping though,
excellent service.
Read the reviews on NewEgg and you will find LOTS of happy
customers.
ZipZoomfly has about the strangest name. They started out as
GoogleGear but "The Google" made them change. Great prices,
improved website, free shipping is fading fast though. Many
times you can buy everything you need in one stop here.
The Nerds is a recent find for me. I find they have a very
professional site & service to accompany some pretty good
prices & selection.
Don't overlook eBay. If what I need has fallen off the grid
with suppliers of new hardware or software I head over to eBay
and see who might have a warehouse of liquidation items.
