Screen Capture
Free Screen Capture, Screenshot, Print Screen Utilities
If you need to grab a screen capture frequently, do a lot of manipulation to get it just right and don't mind spending $40, you may want to get Snag-It. Snag-It works great and is packed with features. I have used it extensively for this website.
But maybe you're thrifty, only need a screenshot once in a while, and like the idea of FREE. (After all, you came to my site, right?)
Then maybe you should take a look at WinSnap which is a 'free for personal use' software that works quite well.
While you can always do a complete print screen from Windows by hitting the print screen button and pasting into WordPad, these specialized utilities can even grab the contents of a scrolling window! Then you can resize the image and even save to several different formats.
One of the best uses of any screen capture software is to document a problem for a tech support person to see exactly the error message that you received. And it beats trying to write it down word for word.
So take one of these for a test drive. If WinSnap will do the job, it's free. Or, for a reasonable cash outlay, get Snag-It!
