Free Screensaver
"What does your home computer do with its free time?"
You came to this page hoping for free screensaver downloads. Over time, that is exactly what I hope to post here. But for now, I need to STOP you from searching the web willy nilly looking for just that.
"Are these Screensavers really free?"Why? Spyware! Trojans! to name only two. Many of these "require" the user to download software or a toolbar from a poisonous site like Zango or CoolWebSearch. Software from these sites have plagued users that have come to me for help for a long time.
Were you looking to Create a Screensaver yourself?
In fact, McAfee's SiteAdvisor, which I HIGHLY recommend as a FREE add-in to the mega success Firefox browser, goes into great length on this topic in their Blog, explaining in detail why software from these types of companies is both deceptive to you and destructive to your computer.
I have spoken elsewhere that the old economics adage "there is no such thing as a free lunch" applies today on the web. If only teens could learn this! Even this very site, www.FreeComputerConsultant.com doesn't cost you any money to view (a great value in my mind :) ! ), it does cost you your time to read the information and implement it on your PC. And I will take this opportunity to THANK YOU for spending some of your valuable time here.
Some great software that really is free!
If you haven't yet, zip over to my pages on Firefox and SiteAdvisor and read all about the benefits you can get from these two great FREE products. Are these a free lunch? Actually, for now they are. The developers of Firefox (Mozilla) will certainly accept your support via their cool products store (the Firefox stuffed animal was a HUGE hit at our house, Christmas 2005) and McAfee hopes to sell you on their company so you will buy their security products; one of which will soon be an "advanced" version of SiteAdvisor with features not available in the free version.
While it's not exactly a screensaver, to me it's in the same category - fun stuff for your desktop. DeskFlag gently waves in the lower right corner of the screen above the tasktray. Download DeskFlag and show your Patriotism! This free utility was created in the wake of the September 11th attacks.
As for the FREE Screensaver...
When you do decide to download a free screensaver, make doubly sure that it is from a TRUSTED source. SiteAdvisor can certainly help there. And as pointed out on SiteAdvisor's blog, just because it comes from a big household name in entertainment, doesn't mean it's trusted!
