Free Anti-Virus Software

Recently I've been seeing alot of people concerned that they are losing their free anti-virus software AVG. While rumors always abound, I've looked into this and found that the FREE version is still available. The older versions are being replaced with v7.5, which is compatible with Windows Vista.

Now, if you go to their website, you might wonder - it's not right under your nose to find. Here is a direct link to download

But AVG isn't the only free A/V around. I have friends that have used Avast (http://www.avast.com) for some time. And there are others I could mention, but I have no experience with them at all.

Please keep in mind that both of these are only free for personal, non-business usage. These folks spend real money to develop and support their products, so please don't abuse their generosity!

One note about a pay-for product, Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2007 retails for $49.95 but can LEGALLY be installed on 3 computers. That's not too bad of a deal.

Hope this information is of use to you, that's it for this week.
