Windows Installer Problem
Cleanup Utility Can Cure
Most of us have encountered a Windows installer problem at some point in our computing life. It seems way too many programmers get their degree from a cereal box.
You have seen that Windows installer dialog box, either informing you of an arcane error message with no explanation, or possibly asking for an installer file without even telling you the name of the program CD to insert!
Even Expensive Adobe Software Can Do This
I recently was troubleshooting a PC slowdown problem that I had tracked to Adobe Acrobat Standard (the paid version, not the free reader).
So I fired up the uninstall provided by Adobe, and guess what? It crashed. Nothing new to anyone who uses Adobe software much.
So I searched Adobes website for Error 2711 and didn't find too much, except one reference in Adobe's knowledgebase, which of course wouldn't load when I clicked on it

Helpful, huh? Thanks, Adobe.
Fortunately, as I wrote in my Tip-Of-The-Week ezine, Google's cache came to my rescue.
